E-mail services Another change of E-mail address! How aggravating can it get? You just printed up a pile of letterhead and business cards and your ISP changes their name or goes belly up and you have to get another. How professional can you sound with an E-mail address like ireallyamaprofessional76542@aol.com? Yea, right! Time and time again, our clients were experiencing just this scenario, and it wasn't just with small companies. Sprint dumped thousands of ION customers and we have one client who has had 3 addresses with SW Bell in 5 years. Let's face it, IT'S A PAIN IN THE BUSINESS PLAN! We can hear you scream . . . and we can help. Once again, the answer is simple. There are two simple solutions. One is simply to create your own domain and then you can be you@yourcoolsite.com. That would be the web hosting solution. Or, if you're not quite ready to go into cyber space, for a nominal cost (typically $10 a year) you can get a great address on our domain and be you@lansakes.com. No screwball, cutesy names. Just a professional, reliable E-mail address for as long as you need it. How do you know? Well, you have our word on it, and that's plenty. If you want more, well all I can say is this. We're not getting rich at $10 a year so I don't think we are going to be the target of any corporate takeovers and we're not planning on giving up our cool domain name. Typically, this is a service we make available to our consulting clients simply as part of meeting their needs. What about my other mail? Not a problem. E-mail works like this. Typically when you sign up with an ISP (the people who connect you to the Internet) you are given a user name, so your E-mail address is yourusername@yourisp.com. (At least until they or you change it). When E-mail is sent over the web, it reads the @information first and sends the mail to that server. Once there, the server looks to see whose box (POP or Post Office Protocol) to put it in. When you log in, your mail program opens the box and takes the mail out. Simple enough. with a Lansakes E-mail address, your mail just goes to our Lansakes server instead of your ISP's. Then you tell your mail program to get it from us instead OR if you like we can have our server send it all to your server and you get as you normally would (and always have). Many users simply use their "real" address (at their ISP) for signing up on-line and then let all the Spam go there and simply ignore it (unless your ISP communicates via your E-mail). Most mail programs will allow you to check multiple addresses and once you are set up, you'll never know the difference. All you have to know is to give out your great Lansakes address instead of your ridiculous ISP address. Want more info? Drop us a note at our great address - guides@lansakes.com.
